Social Evenings
The club holds monthly social meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. No images are judged at these informal meetings where you are free to discuss any topic as long as it is related to photography. Times and venues are notified by E-mail.

Set Subject - April 2013 - Worm's Eye View
The opposite of last month's topic. Lie down on the ground and show the world from down there. In order to qualify, your camera must have been at or very near ground level.

Bird Photography Lecture
On Tues 12 March, Robbie Aspeling gave us a fascinating lecture on the ins and outs of bird photography, including a look at his impressive equipment (get to know your bank manager) and a slide show of some memorable pictures of this country's wide range of birds.

International Salons

The dates of the international photo salons for the first quarter of 2013 have been added to the list of local salons on the calendar. Get more details here.
End-of-Year Party

11 members attended our End-of-Year party at a photo studio in Morningside where we had access to a large floor space with three different lighting setups, along with three models and a make-up artist. Get more details here.

Table-top Photography
Our last social evening was devoted to table-top photography. Roland had a professional light tent and Bruce brought a DIY light box made from a cardboard box, tracing paper and sticky tape. Members got to work playing with the various options available and produced some excellent results. Get more details here.

Villa Arcadia Photo Shoot
Saturday's shoot at Villa Arcadia was a great success. The huge house stands in large grounds overlooking the Johannesburg northern suburbs, with views all the way to the Magaliesberg and the rooms inside are large and opulently furnished. The walls are hung with a private modern art collection with some inspiring pieces. I had planned to be there for about four hours and ended leaving after eight hours, with large areas still unexplored. Get more details here.
